Attention: Watch this Halloween prank and you’ll be on the edge of your seat
Whoever said that Halloween was just for kids has never been trick-or-treated by a group of dastardly pranksters. No one knows the meaning of fear quite like a kid in costume—and on every October 31st, these brave little tricksters set out into their neighborhoods to collect treats from their friends, family and neighbors. But what’s the fun without a little scare along the way?
Halloween is the best time of year for pranks on those who deserve it: kids. If you’ve ever been the victim of a really good scare on Halloween, you know that there’s nothing more terrifying and exciting than being on the receiving end of a prank. But if you’re not careful, you might find yourself on the other side of a prank and be left wishing for some revenge.

The best patty-cake style prank is one that seems friendly and innocent until it backfires horribly. For example, this video shows an older brother trying to scare his younger sister by imitating her chattering teeth sound while she’s sleeping—but he ends up getting startled just as much as she did!
Another classic style is to dress someone up in a costume they wouldn’t normally wear, or give them an accessory that makes them look silly. For…
Halloween pranks are a great way to get some cheap laughs from your friends and family. But that’s not the only thing Halloween is good for: scaring children as they go door-to-door begging for candy is a tradition that dates back to at least the early 20th century.

Halloween pranks are a time-honored tradition that can add fun to your celebration. Here are a few of our favorites:
- The Tin Can Telephone: To set up this trick, one person hides their cell phone in the kitchen or another accessible location and then places an empty soda can next to it. He or she leaves the room and calls the other person, who picks up the can and pretends to have a phone conversation with someone on the other end.
- The Face in the Window: For this prank, one person draws a face (or other image) on a piece of cardboard and places it against his or her window. Another person stands outside and pretends to talk to the face through the window, waving and interacting with it for a few minutes before running away at full speed.
- The Scary Shadow: In this trick, one person puts on some music that’s sufficiently spooky, then stands near another person’s front door with his or her back turned to it and casts an eerie shadow on the wall. When someone comes home, he or she sees the shadow and becomes frightened.
- The Scarecrow: While this prank is less interactive than some of the others we’ve mentioned, it’s still a…
Halloween pranks have always been a favorite of mine—I love the creativity and challenge of coming up with ways to scare (or just mess with) people. For me, it’s all about the build-up and payoff: getting someone in the right mindset is crucial before hitting them with your prank. I think that’s why pranks are especially fun during Halloween, because there’s already so much anticipation surrounding the holiday that people are already on their toes! Rather than telling you how to prank your friends and family, here are some ideas for spooking people.
How to scare a 10 year old

“Have you ever tried to scare a ten year old?” I asked my friend.
“No,” he said, “Why?”
“Because it’s hilarious!” I replied. “I mean, they’re kids, so they don’t really know how to react! Their facial expressions are too funny! And they’re always scared, but they can’t show that they are!”
“So what do you do?” my friend asked.
“Well,” I said, “I once hid in the closet when my little brother was home by himself. He was looking at his toy cars and stuff and then he just freaked out because he thought there was a person in the closet!”

“Oh yeah? What did he do?” asked my friend.
“He ran out of the house screaming for our mom!” I answered. “And she came running too and she was like ‘What happened?’ And he told her that there was someone in the closet! And she looked in the closet and there was no one there! So she started talking to him about why he was scared and stuff and then she started acting like she was a monster or something! She made this horrible face and started walking slowly towards him…he got so scared that he ran out of

The first thing to know is that you can’t just jump out of the shadows and scream “BOO!” at a 10 year old. They’ve been exposed to that since they were little kids, and it doesn’t scare them anymore. In fact, it’s probably only annoying.
You need something more subtle, something they won’t be able to anticipate or expect. You want to give them a good scare, but not scar them for life.
